St. Petersburg Meeting invites you to join with other Tampa Bay Quakers for a Quarterly Meeting on Saturday, September 9th, at the St. Petersburg Meeting House, 130 19th Ave. S.E., St. Petersburg, Florida. There will be an afternoon presentation by Joel Cook “Community Building and Laughter Yoga.”
As we Mind the Light, we will worship, eat, laugh, and learn how to build bridges among ourselves and to the wider world. Together we will explore some of the blocks to community building and experience ways that fun can be used to strengthen community. Joel Cook will lead us in discussion, Laughter Yoga, and games to break some barriers and to open up ways to enhance our worshiping community.
Our St. Petersburg Meeting is very excited about hosting this Meeting so please put it on your calendars and plan on sending a large contingent!
Day care is available by prior arrangement.

Meet Joel Cook
Joel Cook is a member of Palm Beach Friends Meeting and is currently serving as Southeastern Yearly Meeting Assistant Clerk. He has led Laughter Yoga and Bible workshops at Southeastern Yearly Meeting Gatherings and has facilitated retreats at Friends Meetings in the Southeast for a number of years.
Joel was raised in a Christian Science home, where he learned an appreciation for religious study. In July 1989 he attended Friend’s Meeting for Worship for the first time at Plainfield (NJ) Friends Meeting. Quaker Meeting immediately became his spiritual home. Joel brought his love of the Bible and study of religion to Plainfield Meeting, offering weekly Bible Study for several years. He was active in Monthly Meeting, Regional Meeting, and regularly attended New York Yearly Meeting sessions.
After moving to Florida in 2003, Joel attended the Treasure Coast Worship Group for several years before beginning to worship regularly at Palm Beach Meeting. He has facilitated the discussion before Meeting for Worship many times and led a five day workshop at the 2011 Friends General Conference Gathering.
