Youth & Families Retreat, July 21-24

SEYM Youth and Families are invited to a 3-day weekend retreat at Camp Chowenwaw Park in Green Cove Springs, Florida – a beautiful 150-acre recreation site on Black Creek, just south of Jacksonville. We’ll stay in air-conditioned cabins, share meals, and have a lot of fun!

Activities include:

  • Swimming pool
  • Campfires
  • Hiking
  • Games
  • All-ages worship

The weekend will begin with dinner on Thursday, followed by an unscheduled family day for those choosing to arrive early. The official program starts at 7pm Friday, and ends at noon Sunday.

Registration is open June 1 – July 10, and is offered on a sliding scale from $5 – $300 per family.

FAQ

 

What should we bring? Personal items, plus: bedding, towels, games to share, musical instruments, bathing suits.

Is this retreat only for Quakers? We welcome both Quaker and non-Quaker families who want to build inclusive community and explore Quaker spiritual practices.

Can youth attend without families? Can families attend without youth? This event is designed for youth (under 18) attending with families (parents, grandparents, caregivers, family friends). We welcome whoever you consider to be your family, as long as all youth are accompanied by a sponsoring adult, and all adults are accompanied by a sponsoring youth!

Is it still possible to register after the July 10 deadline? After July 10, contact Kody at YYACoordinator@SEYMQuakers.org to find out if space is still available.

COVID Precautions: In order to provide a safe environment for all families, registrants eligible for the COVID vaccine will be required to provide proof of full vaccination or a medical exemption. Masks may be required depending on July risk levels and the needs of attendees.

Accessibility & Lodging: Housing will be in air-conditioned cabins. Tent camping may be possible for interested families based on site availability. All meals and group activities, plus some housing, will be in ADA-accessible spaces.
