The Seeker's Book Club resumes March 6th, gathering online 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 7pm via zoom. All are welcome!

The 2025 Summer Executive Committee meeting will be held on Saturday, June 21st, at the Tampa Meetinghouse, 1502 W. Sligh Avenue, Tampa, FL. The meeting will be both in-person and via Zoom. All are welcome!

The spiritual technology of continuing revelation has been essential to Quaker faith from the very beginning, requiring a fundamental openness to change. Yet actually allowing our hearts, minds, and spirits to open to new truths is easier said than done. While the culture we live in promotes “sticking to our guns” when it comes to politics, justice issues, and even interpersonal dynamics and conflict, our faith calls us to be in community in order to ground into deeper discernment.

Time for some summer fun! SEYM Friends aged 0-35ish and their parents/grandparents/guardians are invited to a family and young adult ‘beach day’ retreat on August 2, 8am – 5pm at Mary McLeod Bethune Park, 6656 Atlantic Ave., New Smyrna Beach. There’s lots to do! In addition to the beach, the park has a kayak launch, playground, picnic pavilion, and more.

The SEYM Child Safety Training teaches basic best practices in caring for different youth age groups. It is designed to give Friends the tools they need to create a positive program environment, prevent and recognize bullying and other inappropriate behavior, and deal with conduct problems. The training lasts about one hour.

Margaret Fell is often called “the mother of Quakerism” because of her pivotal role in establishing the Religious Society of Friends. This series of four workshops will give Friends an opportunity to learn about Margaret, spend time with some of her writings, and reflect on how she speaks to us today. Friends can sign up for one or all of the sessions.

The Seekers Book Club will be starting a new book, "How Far Have You Traveled" by John Calvi, on Thursday, October 2nd, at 7 pm. We meet on Zoom on the first and third Thursday of every month, for about one hour, to talk about what the book brought up in each of us and to enjoy the fellowship of laughter and tenderness that is the gift of being together. The reading assignment is never more than 30 pages in two weeks and usually closer to 15-20 pages.

Join Friends in person or online for our Fall Interim Business Meeting. We will gather at the Sarasota Meetinghouse on Friday, October 3rd for Executive Committee; and then on Saturday, October 4th we will have committee meetings and a Meeting Forum in the morning and Interim Business Meeting in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided by Sarasota Friends.

Deland Quakers invite all SEYM Friends to join them for a Regional Gathering for worship, a potluck picnic lunch, and fellowship. Friends will meet at 10 am at the picnic pavilion on the South Alabama side of Earl Brown Park, 750 South Alabama Avenue, Deland, FL. Worship will begin at 10:30. Bring a chair and a dish to share!
